RDI is a parent-led therapeutic approach for individuals with exceptionalities like autism, focusing on cognitive, emotional, and social growth. Rooted in a neurodevelopmental understanding, it emphasizes strengthening brain connectivity, dynamic thinking, and flexible problem-solving through everyday interactions rather than addressing isolated behaviours.
Unlike structured therapies, RDI integrates seamlessly into daily routines, with parents guiding their children in real-life situations to build meaningful relationships and foster independence. Central to RDI is the development of a strong guiding relationship between caregivers and the child, which supports improvements in social and cognitive development, as well as dynamic thinking skills.

This model is designed to support children receiving speech therapy and would also benefit from the support of a Behaviour Consultant. Your Behaviour Consultant will observe your child monthly to provide tips, tricks and strategies that can be implemented during their speech therapy appointments. The team model can also be combined with our 1-hour and 2-hour models if the child requires additional support outside of their speech sessions.
This model is designed to support children who receive funding from the At-Home Program and are also working with an SLPA (Speech-Language Pathology Assistant). Your Behaviour Consultant will observe your child on a monthly basis to provide tips, tricks and strategies that the SLPA can implement during their appointments. Additionally, your Behaviour Consultant will provide 1-hour in-person appointments or 1-hour of review and guidance on a bi-weekly schedule. These appointments will support you in developing new skills and strategies, provide you with skill-building activities, and guidance designed to support your child’s development.
This program is tailored to each individual and their family, focusing on developing personal independence, daily living skills, and employment readiness, while providing parent coaching and guidance as needed to support success across settings. Transitioning to adulthood can be a stressful time for the individual as well as their family, so we created this program to provide more targeted support during this transitional time. We offer flexible service options: including in-person, phone, or virtual sessions to provide meaningful, practical support during a time that can often feel overwhelming.
Our tutoring program goes beyond traditional academics to help students build the skills they need for long-term success. We offer personalized support in homework completion, test preparation, and study strategies, helping students gain confidence and improve performance across subjects. We focus on essential life skills such as time management, organization, goal setting, and independent learning. By combining academic guidance with practical skill-building, we empower students to become more capable, self-reliant learners both in and out of the classroom.
In your first appointment, we want to get to know you and your child. We will discuss successes, struggles, and future goals. We will take some time to go over the options for therapy and support with our Behaviour Consultant (BC). This appointment is intended for caregiver(s) and BC only, and can be held in person, over the phone, or via Microsoft Teams. Next, we discuss a contract, which outlines the expectations and responsibilities of the family and BC.
Parents and caregivers remain in their natural role, guiding their child's cognitive growth and addressing missed developmental stages through a slowed, intentional process. Our BC supports in re-establishing a reliable feedback system. While parents and caregivers are the primary guides, "extenders," such as school staff, may assist in creating environments that align with developmental goals.
RDI emphasizes creating opportunities for the child to make their own discoveries and fill in developmental gaps. The focus is on facilitating learning through repeated opportunities, rather than directly making the child learn a specific behaviour. Parents guide the process by providing the right balance of support and challenge.
Our Behaviour Consulting services are currently offered at an hourly rate of $140 while the BC is completing their supervision hours. This rate will increase upon successful completion of the supervision period. BCs under supervision have completed their coursework and are now gaining hands-on experience working with families under the guidance of a seasoned training supervisor.
There are many forms of funding that cover BC services. AFU and CKNW can be used to cover the costs of our BC support and consultation models. Additionally, Distributed Learning (DL) schools with special education funding are an option for homeschooling families.
No, the system was initially designed for Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) programs, with a traditional ABA structure. At Speech Bubbles we are a person-centered practice, not ABA.
